The National School of Government is hosting its fourth International Women’s Conference on 27-28 February 2008 at the Victoria Plaza Hotel in London. The theme of the 2008 conference is ‘Women’s leadership globally and locally: for me, for them, for us’. It is designed for public sector women wishing to develop their leadership capabilities, influence change in their organisations and identify, during the conference, collective leadership actions to reduce gender inequalities.

The event foregrounds themes emerging from a National School survey, which revealed personal and organisational factors affecting women’s progression into senior public service roles and confirmed a strong desire amongst women for equal gender representation at the top level.

A strong international focus will include contributors from Nigeria, Iceland, the United States, China and Bosnia and Herzogovina to name a few. Domestic input comes from Government Departments, the local government and third sectors, private sector organisations and the media.

This event has been organised at the request of last year’s delegates and has been designed to support the UK Civil Service’s Diversity Agenda. The National School is delighted to combine its conference programme with the Dods ‘Women in Public Life’ awards.
